I love dining in places with a homey/relaxing ambiance. Emmi and I recently visited Xocolat’s Katipunan branch and it is definately a big “check!” for us. We had churros, chocolate-carrot cake (weird but very nice!), xocolat lava, croquetas and lasagna. I think Emmi wasn’t very happy with her lasagna but the rest were all good! A nice way to reward ourselves with some sweet treats.

(This  is for P. who’s been waiting for this post, hehehe)

Kalamay sa Latik and Guinatang Halo-Halo

We prepared thesefor merienda last Nov. 1 and 2. Now I realized that these are two of my Lola’s favorite local sweet fares. She’s got a mild stroke last Wednesday and I only learned about it last Saturday when I went home. It just happened. She’s one of the most active person around. She hates being idle: a trait which I think I got from her. We’re hopeful that with God’s grace, she will regain her usual energy and see her tend her garden and look after us.

We’re still on a state of shock after the typhoon caused a lot damages here in Metro Manila. What is very depressing is we actually know friends who were directly affected and needs a lot of help in order to recover.

I just want to share here a letter (transcript of the original letter) from our MO archives collection. This narrates how a typhoon affected some areas in Samar, a province south of the Philippines.
